Taylor Hicks was born on October 7, 1976 in Birmingham, Alabama.

After winning the fifth season of American Idol, he was signed by Arista Records and recorded an album, which included the single, "Do I Make You Proud".

In May 2006, he beat Katharine McPhee, Elliott Yamin, Chris Daughtry, Paris Bennett to take the A.I. crown. Though only 30 years old, Hicks is notable for his silver-hair and warm personality. He has already toured once with other American Idols finalists.

His album, which was released in December, entered The Billboard 200 at No. 2 and to date has sold over 500,000 units. "Do I Make You Proud" was also a #1 single.
